Communitas Academy is a school that serves students from early childhood through eighth grade. It is structured around a core philosophy that emphasizes inclusion of student of all learning abilities, family support and using the community as an extension of the classroom. This academy will provide your child with a curriculum that is challenging and effective. The instructional program will utilize a balanced core program of study emphasizes basic skills such as reading, English, science, geography, and mathematics.

These subject areas will be enhanced with foreign language, drama, art, music both vocal and instrumental, technology and physical recreation. In addition, the teaching of virtues such as responsibility, respect, courage and perseverance will be integrated into the instructional program to help students develop into caring and responsible citizens.

The educational curriculum is based on the Hirsch Core Knowledge Sequence developed by national education reform leader E.D. Hirsch. We are committed to this educational model, which takes a building blocks approach designed to encourage steady academic progress as children build knowledge and skills from one year to the next. One of the school's central strategies is inclusive education for students with disabilities. The school is committed to a continuous improvement philosophy using data based decision making for instructional, programmatic, and staffing decisions. Staff members will be actively engaged in using assessments and records to improve outcomes for their students.
